The Royals and Chris Getz have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.05 million contract.

"My scenario wasn't very complicated," Getz said. "Obviously, this is the place I wanted to be and was willing to make it work. They were as well. I’m extremely happy to be back.

"I'm looking forward to coming to spring training prepared to help a team that is making some positive moves."

Getz gets a slight raise from $967,500 after an injury-plagued season that limited him to 64 games.

Talks between the Mets and R.A. Dickey on a long-term contract extension "could heat up really soon," according to a team official.

Zack Greinke had face-to-face meetings with the Dodgers and Angels this week, according to a source.

Greinke met with the Dodgers on Thursday, but it isn't known exactly when he sat down with the Angels, who acquired him at midseason in a trade with the Brewers.

The Rangers and Nationals are also believed to be pursuing Greinke.

The Orioles appear unlikely to tender Mark Reynolds a contract by Friday night's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Reynolds was the club's starting first baseman in 2012 and excelled defensively once he made the switch from third base.

The expectation is that Reynolds would make $9 million in arbitration. Even if the Orioles non-tender him, Baltimore will likely attempt to re-sign him at a reduced rate. However, if he hits the open market there will undoubtedly be suitors that will cloud his future with the Orioles.

The Royals have agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million deal with Felipe Paulino.

The agreement allowed the two sides to avoid salary arbitration and includes $250,000 in performance bonuses.

If the Giants allow Brian Wilson to become a free agent, the Red Sox, Phillies and Dodgers may show interest in his services, according to a source.

Boston has a number of relievers, including closer Andrew Bailey who was injury-plagued in his first season with the team, but that may not keep them for pursuing Wilson.

The Royals are aggressively looking for pitching this offseason and have established a number of targets.

They have been linked to the Red Sox in reported trade talks involving Jon Lester and are also interested in R.A. Dickey.

Kansas City recently offered Ryan Dempster a two-year, $26 million contract in free agency, but they dropped out when the bidding for his services escalated.

They also offered $4.5 million for one year to Scott Feldman before he accepted a $6 million deal from the Cubs.

The Phillies were the first to express interest in B.J. Upton, but the Braves landed him with a five-year, $75 million deal.

Philadelphia's best offer to the free agent was a five-year, $55 million contract.

The Dodgers met Thursday with pitcher Zack Greinke, according to a source with knowledge of the meeting, a move that could signal their front-runner status in the effort to sign the the free-agent.

According to reports, Greinke has multiple suitors, including the Angels, Rangers, and Nationals.

Brian Wilson started last season as one of the faces of the Giants' franchise. But as he recovers from his second Tommy John surgery, there is no guarantee that Wilson will even open the 2013 season in San Francisco.

The rehabbing closer will become a free agent Friday if the Giants elect to non-tender him, and they are believed to be leaning in that direction.
